Giants Live @Fit X Qualifying Event
By Bill Lyndon
The second official Strength Quest Grading Event was held over the past two weekends in four locations Australia-wide. The major focus being on this Strength Quest was to have Athletes attempt to qualify for the final position for the Giants live @FitX in Melbourne this March. The required Minimum standard for this event was based on the Strength Quest Grading formula which is Heavy Weight Elite 1.
This had two Athletes attempt the Elite One Grading gaining some exceptional scores and efforts in all the four strength tests with both Athletes setting a high standard and in some events personal bests.
Marc and Jordan pushed themselves to the absolute maximum and both should be commended ball all for there hard work and effort along with there great sportsmanship. Unfortunately, Marc and Jordan just fell short of there required minimums which were notably in the Deadlift phase of the qualifying format so commiserations to both Marc Wells and Jordan Steffens.
This grading event was also an opportunity for Athletes to win a place at the Arnold Amateur world Championships in Ohio U.S.A. in March, with the required standard for entry to that event also SQ Elite One. Unfortunately the Am World Championships will not have any Australians take part in this event for 2012.
The message is clear for budding strongmen who want to compete at the world level in this sport and that is to be competitive at the Elite level in Strongman your core strength must be the priority with a 340 to 360 KG Deadlift the bench mark to be competitive.

The second major qualifier was for Athletes in the Under 105KG Class to take part in a Strength Quest to qualify there strength levels so as to ready themselves for participation in this new and exciting Event Format Strong Fit Live 105.
The minimum standard required was that Athletes must score a Under 105KG. Strength Quest A grade. Over the past two weeks there were some outstanding results from all over Australia with some Athletes very new to the sport taking part and some much improved Experienced Athletes with mention of Karlo Briski with Elite One scores in the Log 130KG - Deadlift of 300 KG and 130 KG Farmers Walk.
Karlo just running through his paces with a 320 KG Yoke over 15 meters in 10.15 seconds and is sure to be the first Athlete in the world to post an official Elite one score in the U105 Grading format in the next Strength Quest event.
